I’ve Hit a Wall and I’m Outta Gas

I seem to be in a bit of a rut. I’d love to be able to say that I’ve taken off in a whirlwind of writing craziness, but…I haven’t. Part of the problem is life is busy at the moment. May doesn’t look to let up at all, so my schedule shall continue. Another issue…

Yep, I’m Writing for Camp NaNoWriMo

April brings with it spring, rain showers, and Camp NaNoWriMo.   Last November I threw my hat in for NaNoWriMo for the first time and came out a winner. I’ve been working on the manuscript since then and thanks to some great feedback from some beta readers, it’s time to compile my notes and do…

A Struggle with Writing and a Party

To say that things have been a little crazy lately would be a bit of an understatement. Things at work have picked up drastically and will be at an elevated status of “plenty of stuff to do” for the next 8 weeks.  Once I get to the beginning of April all will be well and…

I’ve Got a New Story…

I had been spending the past week or two looking into different writing contests. My book is still out to beta readers and I’m trying to keep up writing.  I figured a few smaller engagements in short stories may give me different things to pour myself into and maybe win some stuff along the way. …

My 2016 and then what comes next

In hearing people talk about 2016 and how it went, you tend to hear it mostly in a negative connotation.   Personally, this last year was a pretty good one for me.  I got a job promotion that I had been working over a year to get, I began writing – first some poetry –…

And the Writing Continues!

Yesterday was a cool writing day for me. I finished a series of short stories that flow together into one for thefirstline.com and their publications for 2017.  I got everything submitted in hopes that it will be chosen.  I’m currently looking out for other literary magazines and other publications like that to keep me writing…

I Finished It!

It’s been a long and arduous process, and I know I’m not signed-sealed-delivered finished, BUT… The first revision of my book is now complete! Whooo-hoooo! Coming in at a little over 72,000 words is my first novel and I’m actually pretty happy with it. I can’t believe I’ve been pouring into this thing for about…

Taking a breather

Ok, I need a break. I am officially half way through the first edit and revision to my NaNoWriMo book.  I’m still trying to get through this before I get to Christmas but I’m not quite sure.  So far it has just been a matter of editing some things or fleshing out some scenes or…

It couldn’t be helped…I had to rewrite

I managed to pass the mark where I am now a third of the way into my first revision of the book front NaMoWriMo. Chapter 11 is a scene that’s a first date between two characters that ended up having to be completely rewritten.  This was my shortest chapter to date and the hardest one…

What Have I Gotten Myself Into?

Since completing my rough draft for NaNoWriMo I’ve been making notes on what I needed to go back and write, add, and fix.  I’m looking at a fair amount of work before it goes to beta readers.  I’ve also been looking at what it would take to get a literary agent to help get things…

Now on to the next thing!

I submitted my official word count in to NaNoWriMo this morning to get my win. The rough draft is completed!  I already have a good list of things I need to adjust and flesh out, but the first big step is finished.  I’m taking a few weeks to step away for a bit from the…

Today was the day!

I did it. I’m finished.  This afternoon I completed the last chapter of the rough draft of my very first novel.  The challenge for NaNoWriMo is to do a 50,000 word novel within the 30 days of November.  As of 11/18 I finished it up with 52,272 words in 30 chapters.  I almost don’t believe…
